Letters to my former single self part deux.

Linking up with Lisette
again for part 2 of the "Letters to my former single self".

This weeks question is

"What did you think about dating and marriage the year before you met "the one?"

Dear Jessica,

The year prior to meeting "the one", you had an engagement ring on your finger and thought that you were with "the one". Secretly, deep down inside, you knew this just didn't feel quite right. Something was missing. It was platonic and you were only getting married because it was the next step.
So after making the biggest decision of your life ,and called off the wedding, you serial dated.

You really didn't think much about marriage. You knew that it would happen but you just weren't sure when. You weren't one of those crazy girls that pictured her self marrying every guy that she dated (no offense, if that's your thing, then that's your thing). You actually enjoyed dating, only because it allowed you to have fun and be carefree. It allowed you to make friendships but not get too close to someone to hurt them.

After 5 years of having the same booty call, your senses finally came to.

He.Was."The One."

You should have known this considering shortly after you met him, you paid for a back groundcheck for $39.95 just to make sure he checked out (now that's my kind of cray cray).

Current Day

I love my husband. Yes, he drives me bananas sometimes, but that's what marriage is about. I'm so proud of him for serving our country. He's extremely handy to have around and deep down believes chivalry is not dead, as much as he tries to convince himself that it is.

  10. I'm so glad you figured out that the first guy wasn't The One. I was in a similar situation (not engaged, but seriously dating) a year before I was with The One. It's wonderful to know we didn't make a dumb mistake! Also, I LOVE that you had a background check done. :-)

  12. I had a "promise" ring on my finger the year before I met my husband too! I thought I knew what love was, but not yet I didn't. I love that pin. Too funny ;)
